Lots of booze, buying new underwear & snuggling: my weekend.

This weekend was a nice, yet busy one. I conquered my first (two!) sleepovers at John's parents house, which I'm pretty proud of myself for.

Unrelated sidebar: sorry that almost all of these pics are from my Instagram feed. So if you follow me there, well, you're seeing them again
.

I had a half day on Friday and met a group of ladies at the River Room at Macy's in St. Paul that is closing forever at the end of the month. They have the most delicious popovers ever. I ate two without shame. By the time all of that plus some post-lunch shopping was done, it was after 4pm. I headed to Target to bum around, and let's be honest, buy some underwear because I was wearing my 2nd to last clean pair with no time in sight to do the laundry.

Friday night I went to dinner with my bestie, Lacey, at Moscow on the Hill in St. Paul. If you've never been, go. It is in my favorite neighborhood (where I used to live, too), Cathedral Hill. It is a Russian restaurant. I had the Matzo Ball Soup (because I was still full from lunch) and about four of these babies: Maryusa Gold. It is a mix of their house made cherry infused vodka with champagne and a vodka soaked cherry. Usually after two on I'm on the floor, so I was feeling pretty great after four.

John picked us up and we headed over to Sweeney's in St. Paul for a benefit/birthday party. It was fun and I drank wayyyyy more than I should have. But I haven't had a "lots of booze" night in a while.

please ignore the mess on my breast

Saturday morning was pretty low key, breakfast at John's parents and bumming around their house. We headed back to St. Paul to pick up my car and get John's eyebrows waxed. You see, they grow together. And he won't let me tweeze them. So I have to pay $22 (plus tip) to clean those puppies up. But it is worth every penny.

We bummed around the house on Saturday afternoon, spent some time watching a kitten show on Animal Planet and I made the most delicious chili, I was pretty impressed with myself! On Saturday night we visited John's sister's new place (she rents a room from a lady in a house, it is super cute!). Then we headed to see Silver Linings Playbook. It was a good movie and we had a nice time.

On Sunday we went to brunch at The Lowbrow with my cousin's wife, Anna. In the middle of brunch I got the most gut-wrenching cramps of my life. TMI alert: it was so bad. It felt like knives cutting my uterus and that can't be normal...right? I swear it gets worse every month. The great news is that I'm not knocked up.
SO after crying in bed for an hour waiting for the Midol to kick in and having John hold me tight, I fell asleep for a bit. I awoke to so much less pain. Thank GOD for Midol. We went to Chatterbox in Minneapolis to meet some ladies for a fun game of Cards Against Humanity. It was fun, we laughed a lot and learned a lot of new words.

I got the most intense craving for cake and am positive that menstrual cravings are the same as pregnancy cravings, so naturally we went to Cafe Latte. Bless John's heart when I couldn't decide between the Tres Leche or Turtle cake, that he offered to get one so I could get the other and we could share. Also bless his heart for not questioning how many Weight Watchers points are in a piece of cake. I decided not to look it up but to chalk it up as a loss for the day because OMG MY CRAMPS.

John and I headed back to Grandma's and bummed for the rest of the night. It is always awkward hanging out at home in my room. We have the door open the whole time and make sure not to be under any covers, so as not to make Gram's think we're getting it on. We pretty much just researched apartments and emailed some places to go look since we're hoping for a March 1 lease.

Oh, and I did all my laundry so now I have clean undergarments.

  1. Ok, I think you were at a different Chatterbox than me. There are 2 in mpls. Would have been fun to run into you. (and explain to my IRL that you are my internet friend). bahaha! Glad you had a good weekend with John. I'm sure it'll be nice for you (and Grandma!) when you get an apartment ;)
