Facts of Leah.

I'm linking up with the lovely Whitney of I Wore Yoga Pants, newly added blog to my reader! These get kind of lengthy but I hope you enjoy!

Fact: I hate odd numbers, but love things in three's.

Fact: I love lists, and my planner. I am not a phone planner kinda gal, at all.

Fact: I accidentally killed my Grandma's cat. That is the FACT but here's the story behind it. Lizard (the cat) was old. Really old. Grandma was on a road trip for, oh, like 14 days. My duty was to check on her every few days. Well... I went to check on her one day, and she was "sleeping". I cried and cried, she was my childhood cat! But I called Grandma and told her, let her lie where she was (the cat) and went on my with my life. Grandma later buried her at the cabin.

Fact: I make my living by working at a financial services company. You know, insurance/annuities/retirement blah blah blah. It's a great company, I've been here almost six years (!!!!). My heart is not in my job. I want something that excites me. This job is B-O-R-I-N-G. I basically respond to insurance commissioner complaints, write letters to customers and send my team cat videos every week (which is highly frowned upon. Along with having my cell phone out. No joke, I've almost been fired for sending a text at 2pm which was "not on my lunch time").

Fact: If I want something, I make it happen. I want a great, fun, marketing job? I'm going to do it. I am always, ALWAYS networking with people. In fact, I have a lunch date tomorrow with a marketing manager from another department.

Fact: I tweet too much. I joined Twitter in March of 2010 after being dumped by this super cute guy named Luke (I showed John a pic of him last night, he said he looks like he's blind). My first tweet? "love me, love my cat". Luke made some comment about my cat when he dumped me. What-ev-ER. I have to say, though, about a year after using Twitter very sparingly, I jumped in. One thing led to another and I've met a TON of great people. It all started with a girl named Erica doing this chat thing called #TweetNMeet, where she asks questions and you answer with the hashtag. I started following all these new people and having conversations, etc. Then Twitter got blocked while I was at work.

Fact: I had a pretty messed up childhood. Grew up with a single mom, who might have had a job, most of the time didn't. I never knew my dad. I ran away when I was 15 and moved with Grandma.... the list goes on and on. And today? It is one of the biggest sources of anxiety in my life. Let's just say that at the age of 25 I've accomplished more in my life (financially, personally, everything) than my mother, who is almost 47 years old.

Fact: I love my dear city of St. Paul. It is so beautiful. There are so many great neighborhood pockets. The thought of living outside of St. Paul stresses me out.

Fact: After high school, I went to college and studied social work. A lot of my childhood years involved dealing with social workers and foster homes. I wanted to be a social worker. Then I read somewhere that social workers make something like $30,000 a year (this was in 2005) and I thought...wait, my tuition at college is over $30,000 a year... and I have four years of this? I'll never survive! Plus, my roommate and I really liked to skip class and watch the entire series of Friends. And I really liked drinking. So I didn't make it back for my 2nd year.

Fact: I did eventually make it back. Some years at a community college led me right back where I started. With a different major! After six years of being an on again/off again student, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm graduating in May 2014! I feel dumb to be so old (I will be 26) but I can't wait. I will also be...like $55K in debt.

Fact: I truly believe John is my soulmate. He makes me happier than anyone and anything ever has.

Fact: I need a straw to drink most drinks (my teeth are sensitive, OK!). And if the waitress says they only have Diet Pepsi, I say "no thanks".

Fact: I didn't own a car for 2.5 years. In August of 2009 I totalled my sweet Trixie (oops) and since I was moving into a little studio apartment on the edge of downtown (1.5 miles from work) I opted for the car-free lifestyle. It worked out great! I always was on the bus line and could use friends' cars if needed. It wasn't until April 2012 that I jumped back in to car ownership (though I miss the extra $ not wasted on gas). And I think the only reason I got sucked in to that was because John convinced me that Honda's are the greatest cars ever made. And now I've had two different cars since them! Andddd we are going to sell my Accord and I'm going to get John's (new, beautiful, SHINY) CR-V because he bought it on a whim on New Year's Eve (and still his Accord) and now he's unemployed.

I hope you enjoyed those fun facts! Can't wait to read everyone else's when I get home tonight while I procrastinate working.
