2012: the year of love.

2012 was a good and interesting year for me. I rung in 2012 being completely wasted with my BFF and then waking up and deciding to never drink again. In defense of the vodka, we had a blast at a show of a band we enjoy. That not drinking thing lasted, oh, two weeks.

I also swore off dating after a brief stint with a dude that didn't end too well. That also lasted two weeks. And the end of that two weeks (January 31, 2012), I went on date with someone from OKCupid.

And we all know how that turned out.

our first pic together, Feb 2012.
I spent the first part of the year (OK, even up until today) so completely enamored with John, that nothing else really happened? Nothing huge. Nothing other than the normal: school and work.

John and I had a lot of first over the past 11 months. We attended weddings, birthday parties and other parties. We went on our first vacation (and I spent one whole day barfing and making him leave the cabin every time I did).

John spent the year applying for jobs, testing and interviewing. In September, John took a job 530 miles away.

I made the decision to move in with my Grandma instead of staying in my cute studio apartment or moving to a 1BR in the 'burbs.

Some great things happened professionally - 2012 was the year of new opportunities. I took an internship with a very well-respected police department, which has opened many doors. I got realllllly far in the process for a promotion at my current employer. While I ended up not getting that job, I made a great relationship with the hiring manager and have a new mentor, which is always welcomed.

The first half and second half of 2012 have looked very different, and very different than I could have imagined. I honestly believe everything that happened, happened for a reason. I believe that 2013 will by *my* year. I see some great things happening.

As for New Year's Eve, contrary to last year's events (woof), I will be spending a super chill night in Chanhappenin' with my friends Megan and Amy. We will bake cookies, drink champagne/wine and watch movies. The perfect low-key night, the perfect way to ring in the New Year.
