...or 530 to be exact. Yep. My wonderful boyfriend just accepted a job as a police officer, over 500 miles away from here. It's okay, though. This is great for his career, blah blah blah. The thing about being a cop is that finding a job is TOUGH. Too bad, there are lots of good people trying to get jobs. I'm happy and proud of him, but the next 9 days before he moves will be tough.
People say things like, "you're going to miss him so much! You guys are so close!"., "Well, you're moving, too, right?", "Oh you won't even notice he's gone", "That will be a nice break!".
And then I cry.
Or I think about how I won't be able to run into his arms after a stressful day.
How he won't take care of me when I'm sick.
How he won't drag my butt to the gym.
And it's sad. But it's okay. It will be okay.
Let's be honest. The next few months will be crazy, to say the least. Between my full-time job, part-time internship (more on that later), part-time school... moving...volunteering...having a social life... I'm hardly going to have time to miss him. And we'll see each other. He says he'll come home like twice a month (that seems excessive).
Anyone have tips for maintaining a long-distance relationship?
Also: random cat photo that I got in an email today. I'm sure Jack the cat wishes I'd wear pants more often...
I just saw that you were following my blog and thought I would stop by. :) I was going to post on an earlier post when you first talked about J becoming an officer. I'm just rounding into my 3rd year dating an officer and I thought that was tough enough. But jeez being an officer's girlfriend when your officer is over 500 miles away. I don't think I could ever imagine. I bet you'd go stir crazy with worry. Hang in there!
