This is why we work: on living with a boy

Our purrfect first apartment building

John and I moved in together over the weekend. So far, so good. As my coworkers said this morning, we're in our happy honeymoon stage. Moving in with someone before marriage can be considered a "no-no", but I said, screw it. I've lived with a boyfriend before, and with John, it just felt right.

I love our apartment. It is in a perfect location, on Grand Avenue in St. Paul. It is close to work, I can take the bus again (perfect for craptastic winter days!) and just steps outside my doorstep are more shops and restaurants than I know what to do with!
Love this old cabinet in our apartment! Fun fact: It actually houses our silverware cause the kitchen doesn't have any slide out drawers O_o
John likes to say that we "basically lived together" in my studio apartment but I say it just isn't the same. This is our place. And it feels perfect.
We're getting in to the swing of cohabitation, and things are falling together nicely. For example, I have been the one cooking, and he cleans up. And he does such a good job cleaning, too!

He is bringing in "man things" including model cars and a clock that makes Corvette sounds every hour (it doesn't go off at night, don't worry). He also has some signs that I have to convince him belong in a garage or man cave, not in an early 1900's apartment...

We have adult discussions about things like buying a coffee table. John says no coffee table because it "creates clutter" and "how am I supposed to do my insanity workouts with a coffee table?" "move it over, John, that's how". Little does ol' John cat know, I'll be scouting out a table and bringing one home this weekend, because where am I supposed to put my nail polish when I paint my nails whilst watching The Bachelor?

Jack: my beautiful model child cat

Charlie: my shy, skiddy cat, has made a few appearances!

I enjoy these little moments and memories we're making. Our schedules are basically opposite, with him working overnights three to four nights a week and taking EMT class two nights a week, and I have class two nights per week starting in April. You really take spending time with your significant other for granted. Things like having a "normal" schedule, dinner at a set time, sleeping in the same bed at the same time...

I'm so excited to start this next chapter of our lives and look forward to all that we have coming our way.

PS: after we get all settled, I get my coffee table and get things arranged, I'll do a photo tour.
